Με τη σέσουλα… Put a scoop in it!
Κοίταξε τώρα προβλήματα που έχει ο κόσμος…:
Είσαι φρικιό και αποθηκεύεις πολλά τρόφιμα (αλεύρι, ζάχαρη, ρύζι, όσπρια, κτλ.) εκτός της αρχικής τους συσκευασίας, χύμα, σε μεγάλες ποσότητες, ας πούμε σε βάζα… Χρειάζεσαι ένα φλυτζάνι αλεύρι για κάποια συνταγή… αρπάζεις το βάζο, βαριέσαι να πάρεις κουτάλι (ποιός γεμίζει το φλυτζάνι με το κουτάλι;;!! Όχι αν το κάνει κάποιος από εσάς να μου το πει να του δώσω ειλικρινή συγχαρητήρια!!!)… Γέρνεις ολόκληρο το βάζο… κάτι πέφτει στο φλυτζάνι αλλά δεν γεμίζει καλά… κουνάς λίγο το βάζο… θες κι άλλο… ξανακουνάς… λίγο ακόοομα… πουφφφ…
Γεμίζει το φλυτζάνι!
Και ο πάργκος…
Και το πάτωμα…
Και ένα συννεφάκι ταξιδεύει προς το ταβάνι…
Ήθελα λοιπόν εδώ και καιρό να πάρω ένα σετ μεζούρες ή μικρές σέσουλες για να τις μοιράσω στα βάζα μου μπας και αλλάξει κάτι… λέμε τώρα!

Imagine the following:
You’re a neat freak and store food (flour, sugar, rice, legumes etc.) in bulk, in containers other than their original packaging e.g. in jars… You need a cup of flour for a recipe… you grab the jar, you get lazy and don’t use a spoon (seriously now, who uses a spoon to fill their cup??? if there’s one of you out there do let me know and I will make it a point to give you my most sincere congratulations!)… You gently tilt the jar over and shake it a little… you get some flour in the cup but it’s not filled yet… you shake a little more… and a little more… just a tidbit more… and pufff …
You fill the cup!
And the counter…
And the floor…
And a small cloud flies toward the ceiling…
Sooo… I’ve been wanting to get a set of measuring cups or small bead-scoops for some time now, to use them with my jars so as to avoid scenes like the one described above!
Then I came across these guys:
Ξεφυλλίζοντας κάποιο παλιό τεύχος του Γαστρονόμου που έπεσε στα χέρια μου {να και το σχετικό άρθρο on line εδώ}, είδα αυτά:
Μικρά δοχεία από μπαμπού για ορεκτικά… Άσχετο; Όχι και τόσο… Στην επόμενη επίσκεψή μου στο σούπερ μάρκετ, τα βρήκα και σκέφτηκα πως θα ήταν… πολύ “ψαγμένες” σέσουλες! Κόστιζαν μάλιστα φθηνότερα από όσο αναφέρεται στο άρθρο: όχι 4 αλλά 3€ το σετ των 6 τμχ!

They are supposed to be mini bamboo appetizer dishes but I thought they’d make some pretty interesting scoops! And they were cheapos too: at 3€ {that’s almost 4$} for a set of 6!
Ainsi voilà!!
Τώρα το μόνο που έχω να κάνω είναι να τα βγάζω από το βάζo πριν το γείρω!! … … …
Now all I have to do is take them out, before I tilt the jar over and begin to shake!! … … …
Τσιβλού & Κράθης – Lake Tsivlou & River Krathes
Part 4/4
Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing weekend and welcome to the final part of my tour around one of the Peloponnese’s most beautiful lakes!… Actually, having exhausted all of the lake views in the first two parts of my posts {here} & {here}, last week we left off at river Krathes that formed the lake in 1913, when a massive landslide blocked part of its bed, {here}. I have a few more shots of the river to share with you…

Λίγες ακόμα φωτογραφίες από τον Κράθη, τον ποταμό που δημιούργησε την Τσιβλού μετά από μια κατολίσθηση το 1913 και ολοκληρώνοντας τη βόλτα μου σε αυτό το σημείο του Χελμού, σας θυμίζω πως αν δεν έχετε δει τα προηγούμενα post μπορείτε να κάνετε κλικ {εδώ}, {εδώ} & {εδώ}!
…and last but not least, let me show you part of the scenery you encounter on both your way up the mountain to the lake and on the way down again: It’s the slopes of Helmos {Aroania Mountain} that overlook the town of Akrata, which belongs to the municipality of Aegealéa* which, in turn, belongs to the region of Achaea. The road goes around the dusky gorge you can see in the picture.
*Wikipedia spells it Aigialeia in an attempt, I guess, to maintain the Greek spelling in the Latin transcription of the word! That to me makes no sense at all so I spelled it like I think it’s more true to sound… I usually do that with Greek words I consider “miss-spelled”, so sorry for the hot mess and all likely caused confusion!!
The all blue horizon is actually part sky, part sea (the Gulf of Corinth stretches down there) and that streak of land you can barely see is Galaxidi (southern part of Phocis).

Για το τέλος ήθελα να σας δείξω το τοπίο που συναντά κανείς ανεβαίνοντας ή κατεβαίνοντας τον Χελμό, προς Ζαρούχλα ή προς Ακράτα αντίστοιχα. Η επαρχιακή οδός Ακράτας-Ζαρούχλας (λέγεται και Φενεού-Ακράτας) είναι παράλληλη του φαραγγιού που σχηματίζουν οι πλαγιές του Χελμού ενώ στο βάθος φαίνεται η θάλασσα και απέναντι, στον κόλπο της Ιτέας, το κομμάτι στεριάς που διακρίνεται υποθέτω(!) πως είναι η ευρύτερη περιοχή του Γαλαξιδίου.
